Nepal is ready to export clothing to Australia

Nepal's ready-to-wear sector prepares to export their products to a new destination - Australia.

Uday, President of Nepalese Garment Association (GAN). Pandi said: "We have received the inquiry and order from the Australian market for ready-made garments in Nepal. This is our new destination." Nepal's exporters received the trade fair in Australia in November 2011. The Australian market has good feedback on Nepalese clothing.

Pandi said: "We are ready to produce in February and March. We are waiting for more orders from Australia for this season."

Nepal has the ability to export 300 million rupees worth of clothing to the Australian market. Australia imports large quantities of ready-made clothes from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The unique design of Nepalese ready-to-wear equipment has attracted Australian buyers.

Currently, some independent traders are shipping clothing to Australia, but their contribution to total export revenue is negligible. These garments were indirectly exported to Australia, and we were able to develop Audi and the market through trade shows. Such trade shows showed that we had a great opportunity, Pandey said.

In the past, focusing on a single market had hurt Nepal's ready-made garment sector, so it was necessary for exporters to diversify their markets. Nepal mainly focuses on the EU, but the Australian market also has great potential.

After losing the U.S. market, the European Union, as well as India, gradually became the next potential market in Nepal in 2010.
