The HiggIndex standard was developed by the SAC based on the existing industry environmental assessment criteria and discussed by member research. It is expected that the SAG can better assess the social and environmental impacts of the apparel production and sales process. HiggIndex is not only used to measure whether the various aspects of the garment industry chain meet the "sustainable development" principle, but also gives a more accurate reference to related companies that desire long-term development and promote technological innovation.
At present, the HiggIndex standard mainly examines the following factors: the amount of water used and its impact on water quality, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, use of chemical agents, and whether toxic substances are produced.
