Consumers: McDonald's ranks first among unethical brands

According to the latest consumer survey in the United Kingdom, British consumers are increasingly concerned about corporate social responsibility. McDonald's has now become the most unethical brand in the minds of British consumers and Nike has followed suit.

The survey shows that McDonald's, a fast-food brand that has been successful all over the world for many years, has not met the appetite of British consumers because of the increasing emphasis on body shape and health in the UK.

Analysts pointed out that in recent years, people who promote healthy living in the United States and Europe have accused McDonald's of contributing to obesity. Although McDonald's strongly denied it and tried to lead the product in a healthy direction, it has had little success. In the UK, McDonald's recently announced the closing of 25 chain stores.

This is the first time that Fraser Consulting, the UK market research agency, has investigated 1,300 British consumers on the “ethical character” of famous international brands. The results showed that Nike, Shell, Adidas, Barkley, Coca-Cola, BP, Camelot, American Express, and Nestle also followed McDonald's to the top 10 most unethical brands.

The British newspaper said that the oil giant Shell and BP have been on the list because they have been criticized by environmentalists. Nike's "sweatshop" was widely criticized after being exposed by the media. Nestle has been criticized for having sold substandard milk powder in developing countries.
