U.S. Will Perform Mandatory Third-Party Testing on Children's Toys

On July 20, 2011, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted uncontested to pass a resolution requiring mandatory third-party testing of children's toys in accordance with ASTM F963 toy safety standards. At the same time, the previous requirements for third-party testing and certification of ASTM F963 will continue until December 31, 2011. The committee said that the new manufacturing and toy import third-party testing and certification testing will take effect on January 1, 2012.

CPSC stated in an official statement that although the toy industry has complied with compulsory toy safety requirements for two years, the committee voted to give manufacturers, importers, and private proprietary trademark owners extra time to perform third-party testing requirements. .

The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) mentioned that Congress requires ASTM F963 toy safety standards (which were previously implemented on a voluntary basis) to become mandatory standards, and manufacturers must third-party test and certification of products to meet the standards. This mandatory standard can eliminate children's toys in electricity, heat, chemicals and machinery risks. Currently, the 2008 version of the ASTM F963 standard is in force, but the toy box is still included in the ASTM F963-07 epsilon 1 version, and Congress does not require the enforcement of flammability-related parts.
