1. The growth rate has picked up

After undergoing adjustments in 2015, the growth rate of the home textile industry rebounded in 2016. In the first quarter, China’s exports of textile products to the EU grew by 2.2% year-on-year, with the previous value at 0.5%; exports to Japan increased slightly by 1% year-on-year, and the previous value was -13.9%.

4. ASEAN, the Middle East, 17 countries fall back

In the past few years, the export of China's textile products to the 10 ASEAN countries has continued to grow at a high rate. The current downturn is a periodical fluctuation, and the total size of ASEAN exports is still huge. In the first quarter, cumulative exports to the 10 ASEAN countries fell by 9.1% year-on-year, with the former being 25%. The scale of its exports has decreased from the previous year, but it is still higher than the level of the previous year. The size and growth rate of the 17 countries that exported to the Middle East are similar to those of ASEAN. In the first quarter, exports to the 17 Middle East countries fell by 14.6% year-on-year, with the previous value being 11.7%.

5. Growth in three countries in South Asia, Russia is flat

In the first quarter, exports to the three countries in South Asia increased by 5.2% year-on-year, especially in the context of the high growth rate of 47.8%, which is particularly rare. Exports to Russia remained flat compared to the previous year and remained low, with the previous value at -57.9%.

6. Export of major products

In the first quarter, except for the export of towels, which increased by 4.4% year-on-year, the export volume of various products in our country’s textile products decreased compared with the same period of last year. Among them, the decline in exports of bedding, cloth and carpets was smaller than that of other products. Specifically, bedding exports decreased by 4.7% year-on-year, fabric products exports fell by 3.3% year-on-year, carpet exports decreased by 7.1%, blanket exports decreased by 15.2%, and kitchen and kitchen textile exports decreased by 16.8%.
