Taiwan to take care of the towel industry to provide competitiveness

Lai Xingyuan, chairman of the Taiwan Mainland Commission, said in Yunlin County that Taiwan has decided to continue implementing the second five-year anti-dumping tax levy on mainland towels, creating new competitiveness for the traditional towel industry and opening up new roads for export.

She had earlier discussed with 60 Tigertail towel makers and promised to hold a seminar in Dalat to illustrate the government’s efforts for the industry.

In 5 or 6 years, the towel industry in Taiwan is in jeopardy. Huwei is a major city in the towel industry in Taiwan. Continental towels are unfairly dumped. The WTO mechanism and the government's internal regulations can be used to create a fair environment.

Through anti-dumping investigations on import remedies across the Taiwan Strait, Taiwan achieved the first anti-dumping sanction after China's accession to the WTO, and imposed a 204.1 percent anti-dumping tax on the mainland's towels, which has since returned to life.

If the first five-year anti-dumping duty ceases, mainland towels will be washed against the Taiwan towel industry after several years, and it will be meaningless to save the industry in the first five years. The Taiwanese government announced recently that it would continue to implement the second five-year anti-dumping of mainland towels. Tax levy is a great incentive for the industry.

Taiwan will continue to provide technical upgrading, marketing, and MIT brand building assistance. The environment is promising for the towel industry, and the industry must strive for its own efforts to create competitiveness.
