Created in London by designer LI GONG in 2017, 8ON8 conveys the designer's interpretation of retro futuristic aesthetics: based on the present, Imagine the world of retro futurism, a unique context that LI GONG has always insisted on. This season, he focused on the ultimate imagination of the futuristic world in the 1970s, and portrayed a new series full of witty humor and thought-provoking through modern methods.
This season was inspired by Woody Allen's 1973 sci-fi comedy movie "Sleeper". This sci-fi film, taken in the 1970s, depicts Woody Allen's crazy imagination of human society two hundred years later: human civilization wrapped in advanced technology is destroyed by machinery, but humans are happy – it is the director's The strong irony of the society at that time. This absurd futurism from Woody's unique witty approach led LI GONG to think about this season: he started from the 1970s sci-fi movie, and brought the retro futurism and iconism presented in the film. The combination of design further advocates and deepens the sedimentary youth culture delivered by 8ON8.
